EUREKA is a pan-European network for market-oriented, industrial R&D. Founded in 1985,
EUREKA aims to strengthen global competitiveness of European industry by promoting a wide coo-
perative R&D. An Umbrella is a strategic initiative in form of a thematic network within the EUREKA
framework which focuses on a specific area of production technologies or business sector. The
main goal of an Umbrella is to facilitate the generation of EUREKA projects in its own target area.
PRO-FACTORY-PLUS is the EUREKA "Umbrella" devoted to generate and support projects in
the area of production.The technological scope of the PRO-FACTORY-PLUS "Umbrella" aims
especially at SMEs and so complements over more top-down program with its bottom-up
approach. The proposed core technologies are important for the majority of manufacturing SMEs.
Until now 77 projects have been generated for a total budget of nearly 150 million
Euros. Furthermore, more than 30 project ideas have been submitted, many of them
still looking for partners.
